Scripture
Genesis 1:6
““And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.””
Short Teaching
Genesis 1:6 reveals another powerful way God works—He creates structure and separation for purpose. After bringing light, God now begins to organize creation further by introducing the firmament, a division between waters. This shows that God is not only a God of power, but also a God of order, structure, and intentional design.
The firmament represents space, stability, and clarity. Without it, everything would remain mixed and undefined. In the same way, God often works in our lives by creating boundaries and structure. What may look like limitation is actually divine arrangement.
There are seasons when God begins to separate things in your life—opportunities, relationships, environments, or even internal desires. This is not to restrict you, but to position you correctly. Without structure, there can be no sustained growth.
Many people want expansion, but they resist structure. Yet Genesis 1:6 teaches that before God expands, He organizes. Before elevation, there must be alignment.
So if God is introducing new disciplines, boundaries, or changes in your life, understand that He is building something stable. What He is doing may not always be visible immediately, but it is necessary for what is coming next.
God creates structure to prepare you for greater purpose.
